Who We Are
We are governed by a Congregational structure in the Free Church tradition. The Congregation calls the Senior Minister, approves the annual budget, and elects lay leadership to oversee the ministries, the finances, and the management of the church and building. All members are eligible to vote in Congregational Meetings and to serve in elected leadership. As a Free Church, we receive all serious Christians into membership without regard for mode of baptism or other tests of belief.
Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons (or Church Board) is the central decision-making body of HPUC. The Board consists of the Steering Committee members and the Chairs of the Standing Committees. The Steering Committee acts as the Church Board in between quarterly board meetings.

A strong church needs active lay leadership and service, and there are many opportunities to get involved. Members contribute to leadership in Worship through special music, reading scripture, sharing testimonies, and serving as greeters and ushers. Members contribute to Second Hour and volunteer with our Children’s Programs, Taizé Hyde Park, the Gilead Ministry, the Hunger Programs, and our anti-violence ministry.
Want to get involved? Please contact us, and one of the pastors will be in touch.
