University of Chicago
Hyde Park Union Church has a long history of ministry and involvement with the University of Chicago. Pastor Joel serves as a Religious Advisor to students on campus. HPUC regularly participates in ecumenical and interfaith events on campus, and we currently host and organize Taizé Worship in partnership with Calvert House (Catholic), Disciples Divinity House, Brent House (Episcopal), and Augustana Lutheran Campus Ministry.

A Teaching Church
Hyde Park Union also has a long history training future pastors and chaplains. This includes ministry interns from the Divinity School and area Seminaries, chaplaincy interns and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students at Jackson Park Hospital, and new pastors through the Lilly Endowment’s Transition into Ministry program. Over the years, we have also welcomed the leadership and contributions of a number of graduate and professional students.
