Commitment Class

Commitment Class
This is our version of Confirmation Class for older children ready to learn more about Christian Commitment. Because of our affiliation with two denominations, we practice and affirm both infant baptism and believer’s baptism. The Commitment Class prepares older children and youth to make their own faith commitment through confirmation or baptism. All interested 8th-12th graders are welcome, and there is no requirement that students make a decision by the end of the year.

The class meets regularly through the school year using a schedule that works for all involved. The class is composed of students, their mentors, and lay and/or pastoral leadership. Together, participants read through the UCC resource My Confirmation and consider their ideas and questions about the Bible, the Trinity, the Church, and their Decision. At the end of the school year, students are invited to make a commitment through either Confirmation or Baptism. A worship service is held at the end of the year to honor their commitment to the class and whatever decision each student makes.
